Door Panels Rattle

Greetings and forgive me if this has been covered before. I've looked and I've looked and have not been able to find anything posted.

I bought a 2012 EX V6 last Friday (7/29) and notice right off the bat that the two front doors had a slight rattle. If you leaned on the arm rest just a little, it went away. I figured it was just a new car settling in but it has gotten worse. Today, I took it to the dealership and after two and a half hours they could not figure out what was going on. The parts guy came out twice, checks some numbers and they told me that they would have to leave my Service Ticket OPEN until Kia North America called them back. (?) I asked what was going on the the Service guy said, Honestly, I don't know???

Has anyone else had this issue?

I have just over 425 miles on a Brand New Sorento...........

Here's an update on my original post:

Kia ordered new replacement door panels for both left and right front doors. It appears that the panels that were installed were defective (?) and had to be replaced.
After waiting a week to hear back, my 2012 was at the shop from 0900-1800 and turns out only one panel fit correctly (?) and the right door had to be re-ordered....Somethings not right here and my service rep is TOOOOOO new to know whats going on???

This is what Kia is saying needs replacement:

is the rattle coming from the upper left hand area of the drives door? If so I have been trying to eliminate my rattle for about 11000 miles. Dealer gave me the run around paid a sound company to dynomat certain areas. Still rattles like crazy.

If you figure this out please post up the solution. Thanks

I have the same on my '12 LX. i thought it was the center console but it sounds like its coming from the front passenger door. only notice it on very hard bumps and certain weather conditions. odd but hopefully someone finds a solution. dealer was a waste of time.

I installed some kind of dynamat on doors inside the doors removing speakers, and also the whole door after removing trim, my problem is when window is halfway. Both front doors.

I also had a bad rattle,especially when the music was turned up slightly high.The rattle in my passenger side door was caused by the hidden screw in the area where the handle used to close the door is located,about where your elbow would rest. I noticed the screw would not tighten and would just spin. It apparently was undersized or "stripped out". I replaced the screw with a larger diameter one and the problem was solved.
BTW did anyone figure out what the noise under the passenger dash is. Our's sounds like a marble rattling on top of a coffee can.

I believe the rattle has something to do with the air conditioning. I hear it also when it is on and the fan speed is low.

Got a call from KIA USA. I have been assigned a Customer Care representative to walk me through getting my car fix the right way. I have also been assured that the Kia regional manager for the greater Houston, Texas area will be in contact with me to assure that I get my issues resolved. I will keep you posted.

I thought it was just me going crazy all this time. The same rattle comes from mostly my passenger door and I thought it was the speaker or some things in the door. Going to the dealer for an oil change this week and will use the information you guys have listed above to help them get it fixed before I go nuts.

Kia North America will be replacing both door panels and window frames. Turns out my dealership has two customers in one week with same issue so they are looking into it. My replacements have been ordered and I will take back in for repair next week!

Only have 1500 mi. on the car. Brought it to the dealer and after about 5 hours in the shop I think it is kind of fixed. The mechanic said that there is a flat panel INSIDE the outer panel which was a bit loose and he tightened it up. I think it still rattles ever so slightly under certain conditions, but much improved. I still have various rattles, pops, squeaks in the vehicle but they are not that annoying--yet. Also, I just noticed today that the gap between the bottom of the rear door and the body on the driver's side is wide enough to drive a truck through. Didn't notice it until I had somebody ride in the rear seat and it looked like the door was not shut all the way. Plan to call the dealer on Monday to see if it can be corrected. I think Kia has some major quality control problems.
