Yes I have seen this problem on my sorento and others.Clogged A/C drain hose. Water lands on the panel that you removed and found wet,then lands on passenger side floor. Easy to fix,dealer will do it for you.Good Luck

 

Also if that fixed it, for future then. Be careful when washing it. A properly fuctioning freshair duct if LEFT on REC should stay closed from system VAC reserve. A week no with out running vech. So make sure YOU start vech and close it onto REC before YOU wash it. They may not have. If not you and they run the risk of high power water spray going INTO the fresh air inlet in COWL and into the heater-A/C box and FLOODING it before the drain can keep up and get rid of it. Far from popular thinking it is not true that "then why does it not flood while driving". That is due to the airforce while moving around the car and not all that much water will be coming in as you think due to it. Some yes but not like a high pressure car wash sitting still. Best to close the vent and be safer then wetter right? for five mins of your time.

Agree with 04. I always close the vents before washing. It also keeps the chemical smell out.

 

I don't mean to jump in on someone else's topic, but this one helped me feel better the first time I had to take it to the dealer for a blocked evaporator drain. I took the car in 2 weeks ago because there was literally enough water in the passenger floor to splash when my wife tapped her foot. They had the car for a day and a half clearing the drain and doing an oil change. Yesterday my wife said she thought she felt water hitting her foot again. Today I was able to confirm that there is indeed water in the passenger floor again. So, this will be my 2nd time this month giving my car to the dealership to fix my clogged drain. The car does not yet have 5000 miles and I’ve only had it since March. Is it normal for the drain to get clogged this often? Is there any advice that someone can give to prevent this from happening? I love my Sorento, but I really don’t think I’ll like having to drop it at the dealership every couple of weeks to get this fixed.

 

Water leak in my Forte

I'm on my way to the dealership to have them look at a water leak. Not just a little water–a lot! on the driver side and the passenger floor behind the driver. Just got through the eastern hurricane, so my guess is it came up from the road. The proverbial question of whether my window was down overnight will ultimately arise–not the case. I will keep you posted on the diagnosis.

 

I had this clogged drain issue last summer (not even a month after buying) and the dealer cleaned the drain.

Fast forward to this weekend, it was hot and muggy in Montreal and while driving family around from out of town, water started pouring out from above the glove box. I have enough water on the floor to have to wear rubber boots!

As the car needed an oil change anyway, off to the dealer I went this morning. Oil change done however, they have no idea where the water is coming from as the drain hose for the A/C is clean! I have to go back a leave the car at least a day, depending on what they find.

My other concern is rust in the floor. I`m not talking damp here, I`m talking about a good inch of water on the floor!

Anyone else have something like this happen not caused by the drain hose?

Having the Same Issue with the Fiances 2011 EX V6. We just ahppen to be on Vacation in TN visiting my Mother. so once we got here I took a piece of brass rod and poked it up the drain tube, water came pouring out down my arm and all over the drive way. i knew it wouldn't be a permanent fix, but i dont want to tear the car apart in there driveway 1100 miles form Home. Anyways Today, we are still down here and it isnt draining it again. So once i get homw i will take it apart. I called our local dealer and they said it wouldn't be covered and they would have to look at it before giving me a price. i told them no way im paying you to tell me what i know. so im gonna fix it. is there a how-to? or should i write one?

 

I had this issue on an 8 hour drive in hot muggy weather and the ac leaked well over a gallon of water into the passenger side over the course of the drive. Slid under the car once we got to our destination and let the car cool down. The drain hose seemed fine, I didn't have access to my air compressor which would likely have been the best tool to use here, so I fished a coat hanger wire up in there as far as I could to verify there wasn't any thing clogging it up.
went back in the car. took off the plastic side panel to gain access to where the drain is, unhooked the drain hose from the plastic basin (where all the water leaks from when it was clogged). gently fished the wire up into the drain basin, and viola! stuck the hose back on and have been good to go since. I suspect some debris got in there from a car wash or heavy rain and having the vents open.

I own a 2012 and 2013 Sorrento. The 2013 has water leaking out of the A/C box on humid days. Squishy carpet sucks! I have personally cleaned out the A/C drain and it has only lasted a day or so before it fills with water again. It sounds like something rolling around in the box on turns.....Off to the dealer to have the box disassembled to find out what is blocking this. No problem with my 2012. But the inside of the 2013 is smelling like cat pee from the constant damp carpet;@#$%^&*()

 

I have been getting the overflow from the evap multiple times a month and was manually clearing it..dealer finally discovered the problem after removing the center console. The hose inside the reservoir (not the drain hose in engine compartment) was twisted and kinked. Had to order a new part and replace.

 

We are having the same problem , especially when it rains and the car is outside , its not the AC.

 

My 2012 Sorento (bought new) was fine for a year and a half and then the front passenger side floor became totally saturated with water. I removed center console side panel (near glove box) and found the AC drain hose twisted 360 Degrees.
There is an indexing notch on the hose where it slides onto the AC housing so it did not just rotate that way over time, it was installed that way at the factory. I carefully slid the hose off the nipple so as to not damage the notch at the end, untwisted the hose and slid it back on. see the before and after pictures.

It seems that the hose suffered no permanent damage and it is draining as it should now.

 

When I got my SUV, I was told there was a big water leak inside the cabin. My son had to unclog the a/c drain tube and replace the cabin filter. This seems to be a common problem with the Kia Sorento.

 

Yes, I had this also a few weeks ago, but was aware of what it was. I took it to the dealer since I was in the area and they cleaned it out. I told him that I was aware of this issue due to this forum. His response was, " I hate those forums." I proceeded to let him know that these very forums have alerted me to numerous TSB's, issues, etc. I really didn't appreciate his attitude AND he tried to tell me I needed a $150 a/c service since the drain was clogged. When warranty is up, I'm done with that place.... I'll do the unclogging myself.

Our Optima has developed a problem with water in the passenger side floor, but only after it rains. Had a windshield expert check to make sure windshield wasn't leaking and they couldn't find a leak . They suggested that I might have clogged drain line from the sunroof.
