Default Rearview Camera

I have a 2011 Sorento AWD EX. I don't have the navigation system therefore the picture for the rearview camera comes in my rearview mirror.
I find the picture almost useless. Items appear much farther than they really are (like the right side rear view mirror). There are no lines like with the picture from the camera on the navigation system.

Have other owners find the same thing??

I would prefer to have the audible alarm that comes with the less expensive model.

Comments??

I have the camera in the mirror. Yes, it's distorted a bit but I find that after you use it a while you become comfortable with it. I also have the back up alarm in the rear bumper.

I might suggest putting some small plastic object behind you aways back and back towards it, watching in the mirror until you get familiar with the look/distance. I used a plastic 5 gallon bucket.

Default Mirror Camera & Backup Sensor

Same here-I have the backup sensors with the mirror camera. I've gotten used to it and am pretty good detecting distances. I still use my mirrors and look-I don't rely on the camera only.

Another trick: Try going to an empty parking lot with well marked parking spaces and backing up there.

You can use the painted lines to give you a good idea of the wide angle len's capability.

Nope, no lines in the mirror. Parking lot idea is a good one.

I installed myself the Pyle PLCM7200 7" ( (80$). Iwill put some pictures next time. You have to get use to the camera but still you have to use your mirrors, but it helps.

I think the camera is of limited use but I do find it helpful in two circumstances 1) when backing up to a trailer and 2) when you are boxed in next to trucks/vans and cannot see. It has a bit of a fish eye lens that helps a little so you are not backing out completely blind. Only mostly blind....
