Default Installing Subwoofer OEM place how to do it?

Ok, Finally i installed the subwoofer in his original OEM place….
In photo number 1 you could see the exact place where the factory install the premium factory sound and where i place the Subwoofer.
You need to buy a plastic replacement Code : 85735 2P010VA that cost around U$15 US dollars….
FIRST do NOT try to take this plastic part without taking all the frame…, (at the back of this part have 4 screws)….
Inside you could see the place where to insert 2 things (a wood box with the shape OR part number 963802P200 from KIA that it’s a plastic box for the subwoofer…
I prefer to use a wood one, because I imagine that the oem subwoofer its very simple and I’m installing a 8” JL audio Subwoofer with an amplifier so I think this plastic box will not sound as good as the wood one.
I also install a product called Dynamite that sticks to the walls of the metal part for taking out all kind of vibrations inside that small place….
Finally you connect this 8” Subwoofer to an amplifier and you’re set….
The good thing about this its that you don’t need to have a box going around in the back (especially with 3 row seats) and my wife would never know…..so I don’t need to explain her about my own Christmas gift…
I already try 10” woofer and other brand like the MTX one in 8” but both are or to high or to wide and will no enter in that small place…. So the JL AUDIO 8" was the one…(i used a sealed box..., because its very small)
The sound changes drastically because I could send more power to the front speakers without having woofer distortion….
I used a Infinity 4 channel amp of 75W x 4…, 2 channels for the front and 2 for the back speakers.
For the subwoofer I used a Rockford AMP 150x2 bridge to 1 channel .

If you connect and ipod or iphone to the oem equipment by the special cable, the sound also improves a lot in between a CD and a usb pen drive….

One more thing.., to install an amplifier you would need a HIGH power converter…, I used stinger brand.., and this uses the signal from the speakers to feed the amplifier Inserts.., so you wouldn’t need to change the OEM radio too…
There’s a difference in between using another radio with RCA outputs with this converters, but another time, you would have to explain your family for the investment and It will cost you a lot more for the beginning...

I apologize for my bad English, but its my second language….
If you have any questions, ask me…, this take a lot of time to know the codes of the parts and investigation for improving the sound of the KIA… and forums like this help us for not making the work twice….

do you have more information about the wood box you are using?

did you make it yourself, or did you purchased it already assembled?

the stock infinity Subwoofer sounds/feels rather weak even on high volume with full bass or default setting

planning to go with your suggestion

I work all the day making my own wood box.., its very difficult, but at the end it would sound better....
I assembled the speaker inside also by my own...., the finished was not so good, but it doesnt matter because it lays behind this plastic cover....

I doesnt have the opportunity of taking out the stock infinity sub to see what kind of speaker it is..., but of what i can hear side to side trucks, mines sound like 3 more times....and inside the truck you can feel a big difference, and my friend wants to change hes inifinity setting to a setting like mines..

Default A little help please....

Thanks for your info - this is VERY helpful.

Can you tell me what size Subwoofer is used by default by KIA in their plastic box? Is it a 6" 8" or 10". I want to make it like you did a clean hidden in original area install. Will use DynaMat but probably their plastic case for ease.

Just want a little more bass.

Thanks,
Rich

GREAT POST!!

Also how hard is it to get this back panel off?

Sorry i could not gave you the info of the subwoofer used by KIA in their plastic box...
BUT for sure, i try to install a 10" (it was my first selection) but it would not fit in that place..., even a small magnet 10"....
I also try a 8" MTX that brings a bigger magnet and it was impossible to fit it.
Its easy if you choose the plastic oem case, here it cost around U$130 US dollars....
Another very important thing i used was a Crossover/Parametric equalizer from Soundstream..., to be in between the original radio and the amplifiers...
I change a lot the sound in overall and it cost U$50 on ebay.....(MPQ-5XO).
I install this on the middle case in between the 2 seats..., i will take a picture and tomorrow i upload it....
any questions..just send me a pm.
Leonardo

Can someone help with a part number for that box (plastic one) by KIA?
I ordered the grill - thanks Ibaronio.

Now just want to get the stock box and find a good woofer to fit...then will get a small amp to drive it...thinking about the BOSS brand...
AMAZON - like CW250 - 200 watts x 2 MAX or 75 Watts RMS x2 - use it to only drive the Sub in this box - $53.99 and has remote bass control knob...a cheap option to add a little more bass without taking up room in the Sorento.

The plastic box code from kia is : 963802P200.
They told me its 6" subwoofer, but their are not really shure....
About the amp, its better to find a better brand, i find a Rockford Fosgate PRIME 75w x 2 rms that sounds really good for the price.
you could find a used one for the same price on ebay.., i have just check...
Wait for the box to arrive and then search for speaker, maybe the magnet of your speaker its to big for the box..., its better to have the measures...

Supposedly from Kia Parts Net that box enclosure is BACKORDERED indefinately.

Well now I am thinking about one of the thin powered subwoofers that is in its own box...meant to go under a Truck or Car Seat... Like the :
Lanzar VCTBS8 on Amazon for like $110.

How hard or what do I have to do to take that side off?

I got that speaker grill in today... Thanks Again...

To take that frame off its not easy....,
DONT attemp to pull the grill, it have 4 screws at the back.
1st You will need to take out the left back seat, the one behind the driver off the vehicle.
2nd Pull over the rubber that seals the trunk and the left back door.(just enough to let you work (i taped them with plastic while i was working, they are very sticky)
You will need to take out the seatbelt of that side too
Then take the emergency gas frame (only for making it easy see inside with a torch)
Finally all this frame are attached by clamps, you will need a hard thin plastic to insert and pull, maybe you could use a hard plastic trowel.
Inside its plenty of place for that sub, you would only need to secure the speaker with some foam and wood maybe...
good luck
