Ok, Finally i installed the subwoofer in his original OEM place….
In photo number 1 you could see the exact place where the factory install the premium factory sound and where i place the Subwoofer.
You need to buy a plastic replacement Code : 85735 2P010VA that cost around U$15 US dollars….
FIRST do NOT try to take this plastic part without taking all the frame…, (at the back of this part have 4 screws)….
Inside you could see the place where to insert 2 things (a wood box with the shape OR part number 963802P200 from KIA that it’s a plastic box for the subwoofer…
I prefer to use a wood one, because I imagine that the oem subwoofer its very simple and I’m installing a 8” JL audio Subwoofer with an amplifier so I think this plastic box will not sound as good as the wood one.
I also install a product called Dynamite that sticks to the walls of the metal part for taking out all kind of vibrations inside that small place….
Finally you connect this 8” Subwoofer to an amplifier and you’re set….
The good thing about this its that you don’t need to have a box going around in the back (especially with 3 row seats) and my wife would never know…..so I don’t need to explain her about my own Christmas gift…
I already try 10” woofer and other brand like the MTX one in 8” but both are or to high or to wide and will no enter in that small place…. So the JL AUDIO 8" was the one…(i used a sealed box..., because its very small)
The sound changes drastically because I could send more power to the front speakers without having woofer distortion….
I used a Infinity 4 channel amp of 75W x 4…, 2 channels for the front and 2 for the back speakers.
For the subwoofer I used a Rockford AMP 150x2 bridge to 1 channel .
If you connect and ipod or iphone to the oem equipment by the special cable, the sound also improves a lot in between a CD and a usb pen drive….
One more thing.., to install an amplifier you would need a HIGH power converter…, I used stinger brand.., and this uses the signal from the speakers to feed the amplifier Inserts.., so you wouldn’t need to change the OEM radio too…
There’s a difference in between using another radio with RCA outputs with this converters, but another time, you would have to explain your family for the investment and It will cost you a lot more for the beginning...
I apologize for my bad English, but its my second language….
If you have any questions, ask me…, this take a lot of time to know the codes of the parts and investigation for improving the sound of the KIA… and forums like this help us for not making the work twice….
