Default after owning my Sorento for 6 months...

I must say I really love this car. I was kind of hesitant on buying a Kia because of their reputation from years past but when I heard they were being made in the US and the Audi Engineer designed it I had to take that chance and I'm glad I did. I do have 1 major issue with the car though that I just recently found with all the crazy cold snowy weather we have been getting in the North East. When I just remote start it does not turn on the heated seats even if they are switched on and the fan for the heat runs very low. Then when you put the key in the ignition everything works they way it should. Kind of annoying since the whole purpose of remote start is to warm up he car on a cold day. But that is my only grip. I love the style, love the ride!

Most seat heaters that I've experienced are hooked to a pressure switch in the seat, like the passenger airbag. If it doesn't see a person sitting in the seat, it won't run the heater. As for the fan, that could just be a matter of not having enough heat in the engine to run the heater in the car (the heat is taken from the coolant in the engine; if the engine's not up to temperature, there's no heat to take out for the inside of the car.)

Thanks I actually found a possible fix in another post. The heated seat does not work on a pressure switch on my car because I can put the key in the ignition with out touching the seat and it will turn on.

I am surprised to read your Sorento has a <real> ignition ...

Mine has a push button and it is also a Lx , it is a canadian edition ...
is it the reason ?

If I had the choice , I prefer a real switch ...I dont see the
advantage of a push button ...perhaps I am too old fashioned ...
I believe that less electronic is better , less prone to gremlins .

But concerning your post = I too appreciate my Sorento much
better than my ex-Endeavor Mitsubishi ....by a great margin .

Yesterday marked 1 year for me. It's been a great car, and I still look forward to getting in it and driving. It's been very useful for my occasional need to seat our 3 grandkids and their mom, and a couple of times 7 adults.

I'm glad I bought it. The only thing keeping me from being 100% satisfied is a speed-specific vibration issue that I brought up in another thread (http://www.kia-forums.com/2011-xm-so...o-problem.html) and was never resolved, but even that is not as noticeable as it was when I first became aware of it.

on my 2012 sorrento canadian edition the push start button was in option so i do have a real ignition and the remote starter is not starting the heat on seats is just for start and heat the motor with the minimum power consumption

To warm up the car, just leave the heat on level 3, not on auto...it will be warm when you get in
