when doing remote start: for heating..

before you turn off your sorento, do not put the heater on auto, leave it on desired fan setting and temp to hi.. level 3-4 fan is the best, more heat comes out.. then turn it off..
now, do not leave the sorento yet, turn on your sorento using push start/key ignition (manual turn-on) see if the fan and heat setting is the same, if it is, it means sorento is normal operation..
now turn it off, go out, now try with remote starter.. if it resets, ask the one that installed the remote starter...

the only heating we can leave in the sorento is the steering wheel and the cabin heater from the vents

heated seats/ventilated seats defog resets to off when sorento is turned off.. in mine i just point the vent to the seats so by then i'm warming the sorento's cabin and a little on the seats..(esp. leather)

Lovin my Sorento so far after 1year. I did a few mods on the outside and inside. Remote start wasn't a option for me when I got mine. So I went aftermarket and got a Viper remote start that has a option(AUX) so you can get the heated seats going.

Ken, this web find contradicts your opinion about heating up our sorentos.

It's a good read too.

I always knew about this and if you want your engine to warm up faster then it is true. But most people let it warm up for a longer period or time with blower on so thats its still warm by the time they get in. I never knew the thing about auto climate control though I will have to check that out for myself. Good read though as I bet 95% dont know this.

well its my experience.. though its true... i found ways to heat up my engine faster
1. block heater
2. timer (4 cylinder 2 hrs; 6 cylinders 3 .5 hrs)- from an article i read about block heaters/heating

my engine warms up faster because i plug in the block heater (plus synthetic oil helps too), then i time it for 3.5 hours before i use the sorento, it saves electricity bill.. more than that its not helpful but paying more elec. bill..

when you put your climate control to auto, theres more air less heat, if you put your fan to level 3-4, it heats up faster...

^ I also plug my SUV when it's 25 and below.
Or if not, i made sure to plug it 2 hours before i use it.

But it seems like the plugging days are over, as it is only -8 coldest here.
Summer time here we come!

HID check! 20" rims and summer tires check! Haha!

Oh no thats not cold at all..
Weve been lucky so far down here in west michigan, and they say its gonna get warmer in february. I always like to play with my awd when the snow comes but so far havent had a chance..
BTW I tried warming up my ride for 8 min with the blower off. The engine was a little hotter but the interior still cold so all in all I thinks its still better to turn the blower to 2 or 3.

Don't get me wrong brother, what I mean is the temperature doesn't go down below -8 for two weeks now. I'm not saying that it is the coldest temperature here, as we are always having -35C since October.

@Ken, power is included in our house rent so i don't mind buying a timer LOL
