Default Kia GPS?

I have the EX-V6 with the GPS, I was wondering since this is my first GPS unit.
Where do I get updates for the GPS? Does it cost for the updates? or are updates even available?
Any information on this would be much appreciated.

Have GPS in My Sorento too.. I think the company for update is called NavTeq. As for the updates (which depends on where you live and maybe if their is a update about once a year) you do pay for it..how much not sure BUT I do belive you can either download the update..put it on a Thumbdrive..stick drive in usb in vehicle and should work that way, or they send you a CD (these days I think its the DL option).

Hope this helps (So far my map is very accurate to Vegas).

Update..Navteq take you to MapnSoft for the Kia/Hyundai map update.

Sorento SX. U.S. model
Tried the GPS first time to get back home.

Interesting... many cross streets come up as "please stay on so-and-so road" and then a "beep" when I go past that crossroad.
My other two GPS units would tell me if there is a curve or exit and to stay left-right. But this was right hand turns ! And a lot of them.
How dumb do they think the drive is ?

Anyone figure out how to wire out the "block" when you put it in drive. I know from other models it's just a ground or positive wire to the GPS when in park.

The map upgrades for my Pioneer AVIC-D3 are some ridiculous $250 a year. Bittorrent is my friend in this case.

Holy $**t that is crazy? $250/year ouch!

If thats the case with the KIA updates, then I will pull out the new MAP I can get at almost any rest stop.

Remember..that updates for gps are maybe once a year or longer than that (since they do the whole country one lives in)..

So you stop to get that map..that map is good for that area to where your gps has the whole country in it (try to buy physical maps for each town/city/road in the USA)..you going to need a semi to haul those around. And also to IF there is a update you dont have to update it.

I really like the Kia GPS compared to others that I've used. It does a pretty good job and doesn't block too much while you are moving. You can put in destinations by hand or voice while moving.

I wish it had more POIs. It is better then my old Mazda GPS, but still not as good as my Garmin.

Also.. I wish you could turn off the voice so that it only tells you when you are getting close to a turn and at a very low volume. The voice on this GPS beeps and talks so much.. it is extremely annoying. I suppose it helps when you need a lot of help getting somewhere, but if you just need a little help.. it is annoying to have it continuously interrupting the stereo. I use mine on mute most of the time and only unmute it when I need some extra help.

Default GPS Voice

Has anyone noticed that the voice does not always pronounce roads correctly which is very annoying. Example: RT394 comes out as Route three (pause) ninety four. It also comes out as a digitized voice at times.
Hope they will correct this soon.
