Default Gas Cap not opening when you hit the button

I'm having an intermittent issue where in 60% of the time when I'm going to fill up the tank I hit the gas cap button on the door and I hear the mechanism but The door wont open which makes me think its perhaps the spring on the gas tank door. Anyone else having this problem?

Thumbs down Gas cap door sticking

I have had this problem and the dealer said they adjusted it and guess what, today it would not open, had to pry it open with a credit card to get it opened. Hate to keep taking it back for this. Does anyone have a simple fix for this? The door is so flimsy I don't want to get to aggressive in trying to bend or twist it.

When this happens, you could do it manually...(DO NOT USE A CREDIT CARD).
In the left back pannel you would see a gas simbol, you could open this and you would find an emergency cable to open the gas tank...
Its very easy to do it and you will see this at the left of the trunk...(just at the back where you fill the gas)
hope its usefull next time it happens until its finally solved...
sorry for my english, but its my second language...

If there was a simple (fix) for this the dealer would have done so allready.
"the door is so flimsy" This is why it's happing....poor design. No dealer can redesign the door. Maybe Kia will have a TSB out for the 2012 model year?

That happened to me and i fixed myself. the door has a spring inside in the left side of the tank cap, you can pull it back to outside and it will fix the problem.

I have an 08 Amanti. I have the problem, the door is binding in the body cavity. Look and see if the door is in too much. My only solution is to gently close the door until you hear it lock. The door is flush with the body.
They should have designed a positive stop for the door but I see no evidence one was there.

I have a 2011 Kia Sorento. The button for my gas tank NEVER opens when I push it. I have pushed that damn button for 20 minutes with no luck! I have to get out of the car and pop the cover really hard with the side of my fist one good time! Not sure if this is a recall issue or not, but it is certainly a pain in the ass!
