I was having the same question in mind. Wondered if it's possible. Worst case I'll head off to Costco what not and grab one of those cheap backup camera and find a way to permanent wire it.

Hi guys,

I don't know if it is pre wired or not in LX models. I have LX V6 in which i have installed backup Camera by my self. connect to an 3.5 inch LCD both bought from ebay. works greate.

Display automatically turn on when i put the the car in reverse. following is the link for the camera which i bought.

Rearview backup camera for KIA Carens Oprius Sorento on eBay.ca (item 260680664896 end time 19-Nov-10 02:55:09 EST)

this Camera is a exec fit in the license light.

you will also need some snap lock which is a great for connecting this camera without cutting the cables. like the following

50 Blue Plier Tap Multi Lock Connector 16-14 Wire on eBay.ca (item 360182255146 end time 15-Nov-10 08:09:02 EST)

let me know if you need instructions on how to install the camera. i will post some pic and instruction.

I've been driving a loaner Borrego for the last 2 1/2 weeks that has a backup camera integrated in the rearview, and have become hooked on it. I'd love to add a backup camera to my lx model (which is currently en route). Please post any pictures/instructions you may have. TIA!

I need instruction....please...The only thing I concern the most is that I want the wires run inside and hide it, just wondering how to hide most of the wiring inside the car. I got LX V6 too.

Your biggest problem will be hooking it up to the shifter "backup" wire. There are some systems that use the backup light as the "on" button.

No need to connect the camera power to shifter. when you buy the camera and it will have the instructions you will need "Plier Tap Lock Connector" which is the easiest way to connect to any cable without cutting them.

power cable for the Camera will connect to the Red and ground cables of your reverse light. after that when you put the car in reverse the camera will be on along with the reverse light.

Default Sorento 2011 Camera Install

Guys my apology for late reply.... here are the instruction on how to install backup camera in your Kia Sorento 2011.

Tools needed.
Screw driver set, Door Clip Remover tool, Plier Tap Lock Connector, Plier, Tool Nut, electric tape and a wire hanger (will help to run the video cable)

Picture 1: Sorento 2011 backup Camera .
This is the camera i have used. bought from ebay around $30

Picture 2: Sorento 2011 Camera Install.

I have placed the number on the cover panels in the picture, this will be the sequence in which you will remove the trunk covers.

1. You will need to use a flat screw driver to remove this cover. this is just clipped in. make sure to wrap some tape around the screw driver's tip to be saved from scratches.

2. Once the top middile cover is removed, screws for the side covers will be visible, remove the screws and the covers.

3. Now you can remove the screws on the trunck door handle and the other screw on the cover.

4. Remove this small cover, i beleive there was a screw.

Make sure all screws are removed.... Now the trunk cover is attached to the body only with the door clips (as shown in the attached picture)

Now you will need your flat screw driver to make room between the cover and the trunk body so you can hold the cover and pull.

Make sure to apple force gently to avoid breaking the door clips. i have attached the picture of the door clip the one in Sorento are prety much similar. i also suggest to have the clip remover tool as show in the picture below. (i didn't had the clip remover tool and i ended up breaking a clip).

Now you should have removed the trunck cover.

Now you will need to unscrew the Crome cover above the license plate.

there are 4 Nuts for this cover which need to be removed. please note do not unplug any wiring.... just unscrew the 4 Nuts and the crome cover will be lose and now you can pull it out with out unpluging any cables.

Now unscrew one of the license plate light(where you want to install the camera), cut the cables for this license plate light to diconnect. now the license plate light is completly dicsonnected.

Now on the camera there are two seperate cable sets, one is for the embeded license plate light and the other is for the Camera.

Now Connect the License plate light wires to the Cables which we just cut by using the "Tap Lock Connectors"

Now the License plate light in the camera is connected.

Now run the Camera Cable set from the Rubber tube into the trunck so it will be sealed drag the cable iside the and tape to seal the rubber tube.

Now you will need find the cables for the reverse light and power cable for the Camera will connect to the Red and ground cables of your reverse light using the "Tap Lock Connectors". after this when you put the car in reverse the camera will be on along with the reverse light.

once the wiring is complete you may test the camera and the license plate light.

Now you can run the cable under to the mark point 6. in the picture and run it to under roof.

5. remove the rubber coil from the boders Now you will need the wire hanger to run the cable. in th trunk on the left side above the speaker there is a cover which will come off.

I run the cable from the Trunck to under Roof via .6(in the picture) and then to the cover above the left speaker. (in th trunk on the left side above the speaker there is a cover which will come off)

you will need a plier to make a litter room for the cable to come out at the forward lower corner of this cover.

in my Sorento the vedio cable is only visibe at this part where the cable is coming out of this cover and going under the side of 3rd row left seat.

Picture 3: Sorento 2011 Video Cable Run. .
Now you may Run the cable under the plastic body. you can easy hide the cable in the plastic cover and run it to the front.

Hope these instructions will help...
