Default Back-up camera in hot weather

I've noticed that my back-up camera on the EX model (located in nav system) goes all black and sometimes fuzzy, but still clearly shows the red/yellow/green lines, when its really hot and humid outside. When the temp cools down it works fine, has anyone else noticed this or is my camera just on the fritz? I've only had the car for 3 months so far.

How hot is hot in your case? I've had my Sorento for 3 weeks now here in Souther California and the hottest it's gotten so far in around 90º and my backup cam has been fine.

Here in Vegas we have been a good 100 degrees. Lately been about 105'ish and soon to go into the 110's. Even though Our Sorento is only 3 days old.. No problems with the backup camera. But will keep an eye on it now and then so if it does start doing something funny will let peeps know on here.

Gromitvt10,

I live in Maryland as you do. I have the same model as you do and have at it for about three to four months now. I haven't had any issues with the backup camera in really hot weather. However, I've been backing into parking spaces lately and haven't really used it in the afternoon when it has been the hottest. I'll have to check next time, but I think I don't have this issue.

With regards to the others asking how hot it has been here. We've been having record temperatures lately, around 100 to 103 degrees in Maryland.

Take it back to the dealer and see what they say. Should be an easy fix for them. I've taken mine back for the DVD player not working. Fixed it in a day.

Hope this helps.

I noticed something like that the other day. It only lasted a second or two though then it was fine. I live in GA and it was in the high 90s the day in question.

My 2010 Sedona (6 days old) has an intermittent problem with the camera, just for giggles I hit the rear hatch and low and behold it started to work.

Over the past few days it has happened again and a light rap to the hatch brings it on again. I have an appointment with the dealer in a few days to make a permanent solution before I hurt my hand

Here in Puerto Rico it avg between 80 to up to 100F with high humidity and camera has been working fine. One thing though, don't know if it's the angle or what but when It rains, water tends to stay on top of the lens making vision a tad blurry.

Ours does this only after washing or in rain. Like it is leaking water into the rear camera housing. Taking to the dealer to look at if they can ever get me scheduled for the free first oil change.

Thanks guy, well i've ruled out the hot weather. It was touch and go for a about a week (on both hot and cool days), now it seems to be working fine again. I don't know what the problem was...weird. But thanks for all the feedback!
