Common Issues to look out for: 2012 Sorento V6

I just purchased a used 2012 Sorento EX V6 FWD (premium package) with 50,000 miles on it.

What I have noticed so far:
1) Idler pulley whine (fixed as it made the car sound like it was on its last legs)
2) When car is idling it very occasionally stutters. I tried fuel injector cleaning solution during my last fill up, may have improved it by 30-40% at best
3) New engine/cabin air filter installed
4) Weird knocking sound for a few seconds when doing cold start (or maybe every time I start it) from the passenger side rear of the car. I think this is something to do with the blend door motor as I had something likely similar on my Ford. It's probably hard to get to since I have to remove the interior panels.
5) Brakes are fine but feel very soft, maybe normal as this is my first SUV. They are not warped and are very quiet so will leave as is.
6) Going to install a new set of tires as this still has the stock set and they are in a terrible state. Recommendations are welcome
7) Various rattles from center console and passenger front door. Also sunroof shades undo themselves, first time I've ever seen something like that but seems common for this car.

Overall I like the car, the ride is a bit firm but wasn't a deal breaker for me, the new tires will probably work wonders if I pick the right set.

My number one concern is engine and transmission, everything else I can learn to live with given the price I paid. Does the 3.5 V6 have any major issues with reliability assuming frequent oil and filter changes? If some high mileage V6 folks can post their findings that would be much appreciated.

I picked up a 2011 ex v6 4x4 a couple months ago and I'm pleased as well. From my reading these motors and transmissions are pretty reliable.
If you live where rock salt is used then watch your front coil springs. The rubber coating cracks and once salt gets on the bare coil it will corrode and break.
The front struts can be noisy once they start leaking.
At 73k my front brakes were showing signs of wear so I did a full brake job front and back. I also replaced the brake fluid and my pedal is high and firm.
I also had worn sway bar bushings so I replaced them front and rear. I also did the sway bar end links, front coil springs, front struts and rear shocks.
If you hear rattling on cold startup it's most likely the engine lifters. It seems that the engine uses solid lifters and the rattling is just the way it is.
One issue that seems to be common is the right side (passenger side) low beam headlight connector gets hot and the plastic melts. Once the plastic melts the metal connection is lost and the light goes out.
The backup camera doesn't seem to be very durable. Mine was dead when I bought it, got a new one off eBay.
Overall I'm very pleased with mine.

I have a 2012 Sorento EX V6 FWD with 206,500km/128,323m. Purchased new in July 2011. Just recently replaced shocks & struts and a few months ago put on a new set of tires (second tire replacement). Have not had to do anything regarding brakes, yet.
Only other problem I had was with the passenger's seat sensor for the seat belt. KIA replaced the whole seat under warranty.
I make sure I follow the maintenance schedule. Have used synthetic since day one.
Most of my driving has been long distance highway (est. 60-65%).
As far as I'm concerned this is the best vehicle I've owned.

Eh!

Thanks very much for the responses.

soulsurvives: I am in sunny California so no issues with salt. I have no electrical gremlins aside from what seems to be a very sensitive auto headlight. It turns on in broad daylight for some strange reason. As long as it doesn't turn off in pitch darkness I will say this is ok

geeksrus: Great, so I can expect no major costly repairs for at least another 50-60k miles. The previous owner did synthetic oil changes every 3k miles which is overkill but at least that means the engine always had clean oil. I will probably do them at 7,500 mile intervals.

No one can say that you won't have any major costly repairs for at least another 50-60k miles. But based on the Sorento's track record these should be minimized.
