Tire Chains

I'll be traveling through Montana & Idaho this winter. There is indication that these states might require chains under certain conditions.

Is it appropriate to put chains on my Sorento?

Do you have AWD? If so, I would not worry about chains, unless you plan to climb 20 grade steep offroad hills.

Yes, chains may be required in some areas depending on the weather. I would check with the state's hwy. or trans. dept. for the roads you intend to travel. AWD and/or OEM or all-season tires by themselves are not only potentially inadequate (you may get stopped & turned around or re-directed miles out of your way), but also not safe in some snowy and/or icy road (especially mountainous) conditions.

When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.
