Default ABS Light & ESC OFF?

A week ago I took my car to the dealer and had regular maintenance done on it. Oil Change/fluid changed/etc. I knew my brakes needed to be changed but the guy at the dealer said I should be fine until my next oil change. Well this morning when I cranked my car I noticed the ABS light was on as well as the light that says "ESC OFF" After I got off of work I took the car to Autozone and had them check the sensors. They said everything showed up fine. Also stated I still have at least 2 or 3 months left on my brake pads.

My question is, how do I get this light to go off? If I change my brakes will the light go off? And my brake fluid is full. They took care of that at the dealership and Autozone checked it as well.

My car is a 2007 Kia Sorento LX if that helps.

Thanks in advance for any help.

ESC uses the ABS system to slow individual wheels to enhance traction. If there is a fault in the ABS, ESC will be disabled. I don't think Autozone has an advanced enough scanner to read the ABS computer. Likely one of the sensors are disconnected or damaged.

An ESC/ABS fault in the 07-09 Sorentos is usually caused by either a bad stop lamp switch or a bad transfer case(4WD) motor. Granted it could be something else, but those 2 things are the most common. There was actually a recall for the stop lamp switch for the 07s, and a TSB about the motor. It would be best to check with the dealer.

the exact same thing happened to me. It turned to be the rear left abs sensor. As soon as I replaced it, ESC OFF and ABS lights went off. So, no worries. I guess by now you have already fixed it.

and by the way, because my sorento 2007 4x4 has a non-functioning 4WD, I replaced the brake switch as well thinking that maybe it is the reason why the 4WD doesnt work, but since you have mentioned the two common problems with 07-09 sorento, I guess I will have the actuator checked cuz it is the only thing that I did not know how to check. If you know how to test it, please let me know.

You have some time for the next oil change, so I assume you need to test if ABS works or no. Light ON or OFF - are just indicators and they do not guarantee if your ABS or any other system is working properly. That is very important system and you need to repair it ASAP.
