(59) Sorento automatic - issues ?

Am thinking of exchanging my manual (05) sorento for a newer automatic (59). Never had automatic before, can anybody tell me if there are any specific issues I should be aware of please?

Not recommended to exchange the gearbox due to wiring problems you could experience after the replacement. Also on the mechanical side modifications will be needed and may not be perfect.

I would sell the one you have and buy another factory assembled Automatic Sorento.

That's my personal advise based on the problems experienced by other.

Maybe I'm reading the OP a bit differently, but It read to me that they were looking to trade in a manual Sorento for one with an Automatic.

Obviously you won't have the clutch and gears to deal with. Maintenance wise, Automatics are pretty reliable, just follow the maintenance guides as far as when to replace the trans fluid, and always use the correct stuff, not generic ATF.

If you really did mean swapping the manual gearbox for an automatic trans, it's not a surgery to be taken lightly, although can be down

Yes I did mean to change my car (05 manual) for a newer model (59) with an automatic gearbox. Thank you for the comments on reliability.

As you are in the UK ('05' & '59' are "UK plate years", for the uninitiated) I would guess you are talking about diesel models. Based on what I have seen, the auto models are less prone to problems than the manual boxes .... actually never heard of a problem with the auto box itself, whereas there have been issues with the manual boxes.
