Not my photo but the 03 Sorento 3.5 has 3 coils. They are located on the driver side of the engine. Is it throwing a CEL code? If so which one?

Technically, this engines uses ignitors, which are individual coils with extensions that form the spark plug boots. These are mounted directly above each spark plug. and there is one of these for every cylinder. The photo is just showing the units on one cylinder bank. I think the capacitor for each cylinder is integrated into each unit, but it's all integrated circuitry controlled by the PCM.

Ah, so if one pulls an error code for a cylinder mis-fire on the driver's side, then an error code for the companion cylinder on the right hand is also triggered?
