Default ESC Off, ABS and Check Engine light all on

I currently own a 2007 Kia Sorento with 42,000 miles on it and a few days ago the ESC Off, and the ABS lights came on when the car was started that morning, later that day the Check Engine light also came on. I disconnected the battery and waited an hour before reconnecting it, and the CEL did not come back on for a few hours however the ESC off and the ABS lights stayed on. I also noted that my Cruise Control stopped working. I tried to scan the car with a hand held scanner but did not get any codes. I don't have access to a proper scanner where I live, can anyone give me some insight into this problem? Also can someone recommend a good reasonably priced PC based scanning software that I can purchase that will allow me to scan and reset my cars computer system including the ABS system???

Don't expect answers right away. Have you searched the forums for similar posts? The ABS system obviously has an issue, therefore disconnecting the ESC system because it doesn't know whats going on with the ABS and disconnecting the cruise control for the same reason. Any reason you can't take it to the dealer to have it scanned under warranty? 07 with 42K miles should be still covered even if you're not the first owner. What were you doing prior to the MILs coming on? As for the aftermarket side, I don't know if anyone has found any diagnostic software that will read beyond what a handheld scanner can do. CEL codes are usually generic so any codescanner can read it, but ABS and ESC codes can be provisional? to the manufacturer, therefore forcing you to take it the dealer for a scan if you want to know what it is.
