Default Stalling/Loss of acceleration @ high speed

My 03 Sorento,93,000 miles. Kia stalls while driving on highway @ high speeds(70mph). Maybe every 50-100 miles it will stall and slow down until it comes to a complete stop. The gas pedal will no longer accelerate/respond and car will coast to a stop. Once at a stand still the car will return to normal and you can take off again. The dealership said unless they experience the problem when the tech is driving the car they can not diagnose the problem. The bad thing is it only happens at high speeds a prolonged driving. The check engine light doesn't come on, and the car doesn't cut off when this happens, it just will not respond. Has this happened to anyone else? Please help.

do you use CC? Does it happen when you operate gas, or when CC does it?
When it does not respond, does simply die or is it still idling?

Once stopped, do you have to restart the engine to take off?

Any other things happening, any problems on cluster such as weird spedo/tach reading?

When it happens, I have to completely stop on side of road, then take off again. The car is idle but never cuts off.
Once completely stopped the gas pedal will work again and car is back to normal. While the car is malfunctioning the tach/gas go limp and will not respond. It does no good to push gas pedal until you completely stop. I just had charcoal filter replaced because gas was shooting out of tank when refueling.

is it A/T or M/T? What would happen (did you try it) if you shift to neutral while the problem is happening?
If there was vacuum in the tank, it would go slower, harder, but would be still drivable.

If you could in the meantime fill out profile so that we will know where are from.

Default Stalling/Loss of acceleration @ high speed

to the forum.
With that many miles has the fuel filter been changed? My thoughts are that the filter is getting plugged. Then when the flow is diminished the vehicle slows down. The crud then falls off the screen and the process starts all over again. New filter and possible tank cleaning? It is a guess.

It does sound like a fuel delivery problem, but the tacho and fuel gauge cutting out confuse the matter. You didn't answer whether you are using the cruise control when this happens. If you are it may be related to that, if not you have me baffled. The only thing I can think of is that the main fuse is loose or something and cutting power and then returning to normal. I had a car that had a wire fuseable link that was nearly broken and everything would die when driving{ engine ,tacho, fuel gauge, temp gauge you didn't mention if your temp gauge stops working as well? } and then it would restart as normal when you coasted to a stop, but the engine would completely turn off not be idling as you pulled over.

TAKE YOUR TIME, THINK IT OUT, DO IT RIGHT, DO IT ONCE!! original quote by me as far as I know.

Default same problem

have the same problem thought it was temperatur related driving at high speed in high ambient temp. the fuel lines run up along the frame next to the exhaust ( vaporisation in the fuel line - los of fuel pressure )... fittend heat sheelds changed fuel filter... same problem .. did have the CC running but dont know why it would stall the engine as the throttle pedal directly connects to the trottle as does the cc so you can override the cc any time, but the engine keeps stalling when the fault happens. After stopping the idle will recover to normal soon and you can continue to drive normaly and the foult will not show again if traveling at lower speed...rpm with or without cc on going back to high speed and it will stall again after time. the fuel tank is also warm. Sorento 2004 3.5l manual... any sugestions??

We have taking it to 2 different Kia dealers and yes, they don't have a clue with what is wrong with the car. They say is the oxygen sensors and we already replaced 2 and we are back to the same problem. ou using the vehicle with this condition in the meantime? Let me know if you get to find out anything.
