I have an 04 Sorento with approx. 85k miles. Gas engine, 3.5 litre and automatic. It has a problem with not starting, or not continuing to run. It will turn over and fire, run about 30 seconds and die, then will not start again for several days.
I have tried a couple of mechanics, the first a life long friend who finally threw up his hands and said "I give up!", the second assures me he will fix it and has the tools to diagnose the problem. I hope he is right
He tells me the car needs an Ignition Failure Sensor that is located somewhere on the upper part of the engine/intake. It is supposed to detect a problem in the ignition system and shut down the vehicle fuel and ignition systems.
Has anyone had experience with this sensor? Or do you know how to test the sensor without just throwing parts at the problem? Any input would be appreciated.
