I've misplaced the OG - how do I lower the spare tire (got a flat, need to replace) ? There's a hole in the back above the hitch but I can not figure out how to engage the mechanism
Upon more examination it looks I am missing the tire lowering tool - a long round with a wide flat end that is used to lower the tire. I see two locking clamps under the cover in the back but no tool. Is that what is used to lower the thing ? I tried to use the regular L-shaped wrench (which I do have) but there doesn't seem to be a way to lower the tire with it ...

I don't know what year your vehicle is, but on my 2006 Sorento the tool is located in the storage area located in the back of the vehicle under the floorboard area.
Hi all, sorry for resurrecting and hijacking an old post! I have the same problem as rashid11, my vehicle is missing the tire lowering tool. I tried various suppliers, but nobody could help with this tool. The only place I can get it from is KIA and their price is crazy @ R1800 (South Africa). Is it not possible to have this tool made? I do not know what it looks like, but I assume it to be a simple rod with some sort of part at the end that slots into the mechanism to lower the spare wheel. Does anyone have a drawing/pictures of this tool (with dimensions) that can assist me to have one made please?
Thanks guys for all the replies. @rhandwor I tried quite a few junk yards with no luck, these cars are not very common here. Tried the ebay seller, quite expensive to ship to South Africa due to the length of the rod. @cobra259 thanks for the part number, perhaps the OEM here might be more helpful if I give them the part number.
That Ebay seller - SG Petch - is a Kia dealer. The part at right hand end of rod (as displayed in ebay picture) is for the jack. The cylinder shape towards the right is for the lug wrench to form a cross-piece. So for the wheel mechanism, you just need the rod with the little lugs on the left end and a cross piece on the other end to turn it. I'll try and get you some dimensions later.
