12 pages with pictures and you can not tell what they are replacing? It clearly shows the six throttle plate middle manifold unit. That is the only thing that has the moving parts. The lower is like a 60's-70's muscle car high rise six opening manifold. And the upper is just a air houseing that has two sets of six openings in it and the single throttlebody with cable going to it we see when you open hood. One short run, one long run. Both goverend by the six throttle plates of the middle manifold. Unless bad, all external parts will transfer over in KT2008020601 dated 2/6/2008. The ICV VAC VALVE is one of them. Please go back and reread pistn that carefully. Think six inline downdraft weber carbs and you might get the idea sorta for the rest those out there. Or if you are more familiar with modern EFI and multi-port throttle plates designs on many performance engs that too.
For the rest that wish to read about it other then pistn, it is at the KIA Motors web sight. Under CAMPAIGN KT2008052101 now, not Tech Op's KT2008020601.

Manifold Sub Ass 29222 39800QQK KIT
includes all parts to do job including ICV Valve and gaskets and supercedes the old non kit 29222 39800 fix (KT2008020601 pistn). It came without the ICV valve and gaskets. Thou the three gaskets were listed for use as related parts to replace and were needed.
My guess and it is ONLY a guess is that the build range had less then good quality control from part manufacturer of middle manifold 29221 39800 units. After that date they had a better batch. Or in fact went to unit 29222 39800 for production. So from 4/21/2005 on, the 3.5 with manifolds 29222 39800 was not effected. Might be getting the part maker to kick in finally and admit to it and pay part of cost for recall. Everything else in the recall is just a bunch of gaskets to make it all work.
