Hello all,

Over the last couple of weeks, my 2003 EX 4 x4 has decided to run out of battery juice I guess...it would act like it wants to start (lights would come on etc), but then I only hear tick tick tick when the key is turned longer. Twice had to get the KIA roadside to jump it.

I'm going in for oil change and gonna have them test electrical/battery this week.

The manual states it uses a 12V MF 70 AH battery.

When I read up on batteries, all I read about is Type 65 or Type 75 etc...what kind would my Sorento need?

In case I need a new battery, I'm going to buy a NON Kia battery, but want to choose the right kind.

We live in the South...hot most of the time, and frigid in the winter some times.

Thanks all!

I would suggest getting an optima red top battery. It has the 6 spiral coils and I'm using one in my car. They hold their charge for long periods of non use and charge fast. If I keep my sorento I'm going to put one in it after the warranty runs out.

Optima's website said there is no battery available for a Sorento.

I would suggest contacting your local auto parts store as online configurators aren't always up to date. Most batteries have a standard footprint and your local dealer should be able to help you. If an optima will not fit then they can help you find the right battery for your needs. Just don't skimp on the cca rating and kia recommends at least 600cca 70 amp hours.
