Default 2001 optima check engine

Hello,

I have a 2001 Kia optima v6 and have the check engine light on. I got it checked out by two different shops, one being the dealer. They both told me it is the PCM (they also put brand new sensors for the showing codes). The pCM is $1200 +labor. I searched over internet and found some place (worldautoparts) selling refurbished ones for $500. They requested the vin number, part number and the milage to reprogram it and sent me the PCM. I got it installed and same code came up again.

I spent more than a $1000 and still problem is not fixed. Please help me with this.

The codes I am getting are speed sensor and idle speed control.

Thanks in advance...

so you put new sensors in and the same codes came up? did you test them or just replace them. could be wiring. my speed sensor was dead for over a year. didnt do anything to the car really. does the car run funny? im guessing your speedo isnt working.

Actually the car runs just fine. Everything seems ok including the speedometer. As I said in the original post, two different shops checked the sensors and the wiring and concluded that the Pcm is faulty. I was wondering maybe PCM is installed/programmed wrong. I am really stuck and dont know what to do. I cant drive it because it does not pass the emissions inspection which is mandatory where I live.

Any advises?

1529 is transaxle related. i guess it could mess with the vss youve got issues with. im not finding anything on 501. start with a scan of the tranny.

hello again,

I talk to my mechanic and he says the problem is the TCM not the PCM. I found one at a local junkyard from a 01 hyundai sonata. I checked the part numbers last three digits does not match. what would happen if I put this one in?

old partnumber: 95440-39173
replacement partnumber: 95440-39014

any ideas?
