Default Plugs and wires

I'm about to have the T-Belt on my 2004 EX changed tomorrow and wanted to have them do the plugs as well since they'll already be knees deep in the engine. The question is, is it going to be a problem to have them reuse the plug wires that are already in there? I only ask because those I can do myself, as well as get substantially cheaper than what the dealer is wanting for them.
2004 Optima V6, 60K miles on it.

Thanks!

I wouldn't change the HT wires unless they show signs of degradation - visible of sparks tracking through the insulation causing misfires.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. IIRC, the fuel filter is also a 60k maint. item as well isn't it?

Hey Im VAB retired Navy!

anyway you usually look at water pump, tensioner, tensioner rollers, cam seals, when replacing a timing belt. Those should be good at only 60K though at the next you might what to R&R them. Also any other belts there, you might want to change out now like alternator and AC.

Spark Plugs are easy 6 minute job.

cheers

spark plugs on a v6 kia is not a easy sixminute job upper intake manifold has to come off but im with ron on the wires dont bother changing them unless they are bad but if you really want them done then i suggest you buy those and bring them to you dealership when you have the sparkplugs changed out they wont mind putting those on for you

Yeah...the labor involved on the job is what makes it pretty expensive (200-300!) On the V6 I kind of figured the upper intake had to be removed to get to the last 3. I'd be more than willing to do it myself, but my condo community frowns on people with their hoods open, bent over the front of it knee deep in an engine. It really bugs me, because I even have to be quick when changing oil! I'm forced to pay to have it done

On the T-Belt kit from Kia, doesn't it include the tensioner, cam seals and rollers already? I was under the impression all but the water pump was included. Anybody know?

Bludragon...I'm actually former Navy, still living around here though...just finishing up my degree on the Navy's tab now!

Thanks for the help everyone.

Not sure if the Hamonic Balancer is an issue on the V6 like it is on the I4. Had I known when I replaced my Tbelt at 60k I would have replaced the balancer too. Now, at idle, the engine shakes enough to make my steering wheel vibrate. More of an anoyance than an issue, but easy to fix when they already have the belts off.

no just the timing belt tenesioner and idler and all that are not part of the timing belt service but if you wanted them done with the service all you have to do is bring them the parts they should not complain about putting them on when you are spending that much money

The timing belt tensioner and idler rollers are most certainly standard replacement parts when having this job done by the dealers - they just wouldn't cover any warranty on the job if these items weren't replaced.

I always by the good quality non-OEM timing belt kits when doing a belt change myself.
