Default transmission removal problems

Has anyone here removed their transmission themselves? Im trying to do mine. Everything is unbolted but there is no way to drop the transmission, the fender and the frame are both in the way.

You don't say if this is a Auto or Manual Transmission? V6 or I4? Nevertheless you need to unbolt and lower the subframe ( Ten bolts). You also need to remove the whole strut and brake system on the Transmission side. Make sure you support the engine from the top. Its a hard job but its do-able. I did it by myself on a manual transmission. I needed to change the clutch.

Good luck.

thanks, I finally got it out without removing the sub frame, but I had to remove the motor mount on the passenger fender and jack the engine as high as it could go without disconnecting the fuel lines. It was a tight squeeze however and I don't think I will be able to get the new one in like that so I'm going to try and get the frame out, but It looks like more work than I thought. Seems like I need to remove the exhaust and rack too as they are bolted to the frame. By the way its an I4 with an auto tranny. 4th gear went out at 110,000 and the oil is blacker than motor oil so I don't think it was ever changed.
