radar, e-10 will give you slightly lower fuel economy than straight gasoline. this because alcohol (in this case ethanol) has less btu's/gal than gasoline. e-10 is a blend of 90% gasoline, 10% alcohol so it is not a big hit in economy but you will notice a decrease.
on the other hand, adding alcohol has the effect of raising the octane of gasoline when blended. but you should notice no change in performance. if the e-10 pump is labeled 87 octane, alcohol is blended in with a sub-octane fuel so the finished product tests out at 87 octane. this is differant than the result you would get from buying 87 octane gasoline and then adding 10% ethanol which would raise the octane of the blend.
as far as performance, if your car doesn't require higher octane don't waste your money. supercharged and turbocharged cars or high compression engines and more recently high performance by way of electronic engine management all require the use of a higher octane gasoline. other cars don't benefit from it at all. hope that helps
