Default Highest Mileage on an Optima

Wondering what the highest mileage anyone has seen on an Optima. I've got an Automatic 2005 Optima EX with 171,000 miles.

Everything is original, just trying to get an idea of how long these cars actually last, because I know cars don't last like they used to anymore. My previous car was an Automatic 2002 Spectra and with that one the transmission went out around 60,000.

Thats the highest ive seen.. Most of the Kia/Hyundai models were complete shit just 5 years ago. Now they have better reliability and quality than any US automaker.

The only bogus thing about Kia/Hyundai warranty is that yea 10/100k for the first owner but 2nd owner its 5y/60k.. So if someone bought a car brand new and sold it to someone else when it had 10 miles on it the warranty basically cut in half..

I was at one of my local junk yards looking for a couple of things for my 04 Optima, and I found a 2002 Optima that had a 4 cyl and the dash was there still. On it, it said 204,xxx and the car was wrecked pretty badly on the back passenger side, so I'd venture to say the car was running when it was hit, so no idea how many more miles it would have gotten before dying.

We bought our 04 less about a year ago, and it had 61k on it. We now have 76k and before the Crank Sensor went out, it was running great and now that I've fixed the crank sensor, it still runs great.

I have no doubts we'll see 150-200k out of it. If we don't trade up next year to a 07-08.

Just thought I'd update this thread. I'm now up to 206,000 miles on my 2005 Kia Optima EX. Unfortunately its not turning on right now, just clicks when I turn the key, does not crank at all. I'm assuming its something with the starter or timing belt. I doubt its the battery since the headlights cluster and internal lights all still work fine. Odd thing is I just got it out of the shop on Friday, I took it in due to the check engine light being on, they cleaned the EGR Valve and said if the light comes back on it'll need to be replaced. It sat Saturday then I went to get in it on Sunday and no go.

So any news on the Optima?

oddly enough it was the battery. i really doubted it since the headlights were still getting full power but pulled a friends car up next to it, hooked up the jumper cables and it turned on after a couple try's. went and picked up a battery that night and its been working fine since. hopefully for many more miles to come.

I've got an 01 Magentis with a 2.5 in it and I've racked up 256,000km.. so far.

My Mazda Protoge went 497,000km without a single mechanical issue before the body literally fell apart from all the salt, rough roads and 80+ times on the hoist for oil and lube. Belt snapped at 378,000km but it had clearance.

I'm using ramps and DIY this at home with the Kia and hope to get somewhere near 500,000km! I need to do the belt now!

Ya.. I'm likely dreaming.
