Default 2006 optima LED MOD cont. seat/center console removal

Now that we have the rear seat out this is what it looks like.

Now remove the left and right carpet plastic retainers to allow access under the carpet. These will be reused so don't loose them.

Lift up center console lid and reveal plastic bucket. Use a sharp pick to lift up edge and remove bucket.

Use fingernail or pick to lift up edge of top center console at the rear where it meets the storage bucket. Pull STRAIGHT up FIRMLY. Nerve racking I know. There is VELCRO at the front that provides resistance. This joins it to the stereo pillar. Pull straight up Hard! Slide the trim piece thru E-brake as shown.

To replace;
Notice on the trim piece the male tabs are an H design. Now look at the metal clips on the console. (some may have stuck to the trim piece which is OK). Make sure the metal pieces are centered in the hole leaving room on each side for the H part of the tab. This is important so the tabs do not break. Center the trim over the females and starting at the rear press STRAIGHT down and work toward the gear shift.
Heres a pic of the male and female tab system.
