Default Newbie to forum.

Hello to all!
Just purchased a black 2006 optima. Ready to do mods. Been searching the site today.
I have the infinity stereo that must go since it sounds really poor.
Hope to draw from your knowlege since I am new to Kia.

First mod will be blue leds located in the following locations;
front floor
rear floor
cup holders front and rear
and all over head and door lighting.

Will post pics upon completion.

Welcome to the forum

Let us know any time and we'll be glad to help you out with your mods. I hope you like fabricating things yourself, you're not going to find a huge amount of bolt-on mods for Optimas.

Yes I see that. I did my 2006 Mazda 6 last spring. Had the car apart for a month. It came out great.

This car is for my wife.

I cannot even find window vent shades for the optima

LEDS
STEREO SUBS/AMPS/satilite radio with sharkfin antenna
FULL WINDOW TINT
DEBADGE
FRONT GRILL
COLLUM PILLAR COVERS
Is in the works now.
When I install the stereo and leds I like to pull all the seats, center console, and do all the wiring at once so I am reading a ton of post to get ideas from people.

I called the dealer for black rubber factory mats and they were 129 dollars. Wow. I held off untill I get more info on the web sites. I bet those mats are not selling too fast.

I have all day today to investigate the car. I have it in the garage were its warm.

Thanks for the welcome!

You don't like the Infinity that comes in the EX Optima's?

I personally love my stereo (I don't use it much unless I am on the highway), but I can't blame you if you want a bit more oomph.

Keep us updated on any car mods you do! We are here to help so, if you need any help/suggestions, just feel free to ask!

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Tum,
I think someone burnt up the stereo. Its not the wattage but the destortion that ruins a good stereo. The voice coil overheats from the destortion. The front right speaker rattles as if it were blown. I know they sound good because I test drove a new model.
When I tear out the center console and stereo pillar I will find out what makes the stereo tick. Does it use an external amp? I want to retain the head unit and add a PAC line level convertor and send four low levels to the trunk. Install Infinity kapas and instal a 12 inch sub. Thats alot of wiring.

Hmmm, indeed.

I believe the amp is the CD-player itself. I may be wrong, but I believe that all the Kia's are that way (once again, I may be wrong).

Good luck to ya... and let us know how it turns out!
