Default optima won't start!!

i own a 2001 kia optima that won't start.I came out one morning to start it and the motor began to turn over like normal and then I heard a clank. After this all it would do when you turned the key was act like it was taking a draw and nothing would happen.I replaced the battery and the starter still with no luck. When you try to turn the motor over the starter clicks and the voltage at the main battery cable drops from 12.5 to 7 volts. All cables have been checked and are all free of any corrosion. The starter, battery and relays have been checked and are all ok.I just recently tried to install a new radio and end up putting the old one back in.Also, I need to know what the gold colored relay is for that is located under the radio.

Welcome to the forum.

It sounds like the timing belt has gone and the pistons are now impacting the stationary open valves causing the engine to lock up.

When last was the timing belt replaced?

The gold colored relay under the radio - no idea, but maybe some Optima owners can help.

Crap, you beat me to it....

But, um, yeah, what he said.

How many miles does your Optima have on it? If your car has over 60,000 miles on it, then I would definitely get the the timing belt looked at and, if needed, replaced.
