Angry 2002 Kia Optima Electrical Problem???

I hope someone can help me please. Lets start off with my car only has 35,000 miles on it. I baby the heck out of it. At the beginning of the year my c/c stopped working...it was a brake relay switch. Then my alternator had to be replaced in August. Now my car has not been acting right. My interior lights, dashboard lights and head lights flicker, the stereo cuts on and off for a split second when I press the brake pedal, when I press the a/c button while driving the lights and radio almost completely go off. It's getting a bit dangerous. I have taken the car to Kia 3 times to see if they can find the problem. The car does not do this all the time. So this past time when the car almost cut off while driving I took it straight to Kia...they saw the problem but it was too late in the day to fix or look at it. Now ever since they shut the car off (2 weeks ago) the car will not do it again. Has anyone else been witnessing something similar..or do you have any suggestions??? The garage thinks it might be a ground somewhere or possibly the alternator again, but everything tests fine. My warranty is running out so I need this fixed ASAP. Thanks.

My 02 does exactly the same thing, been to the dealer so many times they are tired of seeing me. Every time I take it there while it is happening, they shut it off to work on other cars that were there first, and when they start it up it does not do it again. Mine has gotten to the point that I have no interior dome light, car doesn't turn over, nothin when I tri to start it, yet the car's charging system checks out fine at autozone. What I found it I pop the hood and grab both cables to the battery and shake the crap out of them and then it starts just fine, and no more flickering when I step on the brakes, turn on a/c etc. I think it has something to do with the cabeling and a bad connection or something like that.

My 2001 Magentis does the same. Originally it was just on really hot days now it's constant.

Anyone else having all of the above problems but also with the added bonus of speakers occasionally, door locks and windows?

it is a ground underneath the airbox. you get to it by removing the battery, it is right under the airbox and is bolted to the frame. all you have to do is remove it and sand the paint down to bare metal. and reattatch the ground. i have seen it on atleast 10 optimas. i strongly urge you to do it, and let me know how it turns out

Well here it is 2010. I still have my 02' Optima. Sorry it has been a while since I have been on here. I had the electrical problem up until October of 2009. My mechanic suggested adding another ground wire. Something about the electrical current. So far so good. My clock still flickers and looses time though, but I guess that is why I have a watch. LOL. I am also going to try the thing the TexKiaTech suggested when it gets a bit warmer.

How do add another ground wire? Did your mechanic do it?

Yes I had my mechanic do it. I will take a pictures when it gets a bit warmer outside. I think he just took a thicker piece of cable and mounted it to part of the frame. I will have to double check though.

Connect a piece of 4AWG from the negative battery terminal to Bare metal (sand off any paint or primer). Either find an existing large bolt to use or use a large sheet metal screw.
