Question Cruise Control Discussion

I have an 05 Optima LX (Man 5 spd 4 Cyl).

Here is my issue with cruise control.

1) The first set point in cruise works fine.

2) If you go off this set, and then resume (Flat road, no hills)...
- If your speed is greater than the setpoint, the cruise will first undershoot the set point by 5-7Mph and then it will rise to the setpoint.
This takes a loooong time, almost 1.5 minutes.
Most other cruises (eg Honda Civic 4cyl manual) will simply drop to the origional set point and then hold it. (Not o below by 5-7Mph)

3) If you use the resume/accel button to move to a higher speed, the car will responnd to this new speed, but the second you take your hand off the accel button, again the cruise will drop 5-7Mph, and then crawl back up to teh set point... Again other vehicles will simply hold the accelerated set point. The local dealer states this is a normal situation with a kia manual transmission... AARGH... anyone disagree?
Is there a TSB on this issue?

I have rented dozens of automatics (Same cruise control, but albeit automatic)... On a flat surface, being careful to NOT let the transmission downshift, the cruise NEVER undershoots as I describe above.

Finally 3) The same issue takes place during an initial setting of the cruise... ie set it at 60 Mph, and the first time it will reduce speed by 5-7mPH and then crawl back up to teh set point... Once it is on teh set point it holds it (barring a big up or down hill)... But the second you fiddle with the set point at all (up or down).. it will undershoot and then reapproach the target speed you set...

Give me something I can go to the dealer with.. ie TSB, ammunition that your Manual optima does not act this way, or a repair that you might have had implemented...

Thanks!

mine does that also, i just figured its a kia. the real question would be is if anybody doesnt have this problem. i have owned fords up until buying my optima and i love the speed control on them. wherever you set it it stays and if you touch the accel it moves 1mph you touch it 5 times it moves 5mph same with decel. i have just come to accept that the accel and decel on my kia dont work as with other cars and i dont use them for that, if i want to accel or decel i hit cancel and do it on my own and then set the new speed.
