wassup ya'll?? I'm a Mitsubishi Galant Driver and my friend has a 2003 Kia Optima but since he does not have internet access I'm doing the research for him. I'm a member of TheGalantCenter.net and I have been inforned that the cylinder head on the Optima fits on the 2.4 4G64 block on the Galants and 3rd generation Eclipses. well, my question is does the Optima use the same 4G64 2.4L from Mitsubishi??? and also does anyone make a handling or performance suspension for this car? i.e. coilovers, spring, shocks, etc.

any help would be appreciated

Officially, Kia uses the Hyundai designed 2.4L engine in the Optima. This does not rule out that the heads are similiar to the Mits. Hyundai is a part of the World Engine Project and the 2.4L that has been updated for the 2006.5 Optima is a result of refinements. Handling and suspension parts are not going to be usable between Kia and Mits. Different approaches were taken in the design process. Hyundai stopped using Mits based engines back in the late 90's. Kia prior to Hyundai's buy out used Madza based engines up until 1999. Hyundai purchased majority of Kia in 1998.

hmm.. now that's interesting. All this time I was convinced that the 2.4L found in the 2004 Optima was the same as the Mitsubishi 4G64. *sighs* well it reminds me of my old Eagle Talon with it's 2.0L 4G63 DOHC. Man I miss that car!

I remember Eagle Talon, I could see a few on the street and one of neighbors has one. He says it has a reliable Eagle oxygen sensor and excellent engine performance as well. Just sad that a nice carl have died because of being unpopular.
