Arrow Optima and Sonata Part Swap !

I have a busted Drive axel in my 01' Optima. I cant find any autopart store that stocks that part but they do stock the same part for the 01' Sonata same eng. 2.5 v6 and AT just like mines. But I was woundering if that Drive Axel would work in my car ?

Cannot say for sure as I don't think Hyundia owned Kia when you car was built, I would go to one of the online parts vendors and check the partnumber for both. someone like Kia Parts - Discount Kia Parts & Accessories below wholesale

Hyundai bought KIA in 1998 from what I was told by a KIA dealer.

I think GM bought Daweo in 98 I thought Hyundia bought KIA in 2001 or later, but I maybe wrong.

Speaking officially, Hyundai bought control of Kia in 1998 and did not share platforms until 2001. The 2001 Sonata engine and transmissions are used in the 2001 Optima. Computer settings and some suspension components were tweaked by Kia. It is possible the drive axel can be found through searching national savage yards for a good used one. I have not been able to verify the drive axel being the same for both models in 2001 but everyone I have spoken with suspect you will have no issues. No implied warranty of course on my part. haha
