Unhappy Plez Help Door Won't Open

My gf has a 03 optima and the passanger door won't open it feels like one of the plastic clips connecting the door handle to the door latch came undone or broke. Thats the easy part the part I am stuck at is that I can't open the door to take off the door panel with the door closed. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the door panel off. I already took off the plastic backing behind the door handle to expose the rods but the problem is further down to where I can't access it. Sorry about the lengthy thread and help would be appreciated....
