The 2001 Optima is a 2.5L V6 while 2002-2006 is a 2.7L V6. Keep in mind the newest 2006.5 has a more refined 2.7L V6 and some parts are definitely different including a chain instead of a timing belt.

yeah.. but Hyundai still has that MONSTER 3.3L V6!
They need to toss a bone to KIA on that matter.. I mean can you imagine the the 3.5L V6 in the Amanti being offered as an option in the optima?
