Default Fasten seat belt/keys in ignition chime WILL NOT TURN OFF. HELP!

2001 Kia optima LX6.
I accidently slammed the door shut on the seat belt a few months ago.
Ever since then the door chime has been screwy. Starts ringing when I
hit a bump in the road, hit the brakes, make a hard turn.
If I'm just running errands about town it's merely irritating. On a 110
mile, 2 1/2 hour drive it's maddening. Just finished long drive home,
chime rang constantly for almost 2 hours on the freeway. Help!
Were do I look to find the source of the problem? Is there a way to shut
the chime off? It sounds like it's buried in the dash.
I had someone tell me the pressure sensor in the seat,
seatbelt switch, or the door switch could be the source of the problem. How do I locate these sensors/switches?
The problem seems to lessen if I don't let my left leg rest against the drivers door. Uncomfortable to drive that way.
I have to make that 110 mile drive again twice in the next 48 hours. Please help if you can , that damn chime is going to make me crazy.

i dunno about your car but most have a door pen where the door shuts. there should be 2 screws remove them and pull the plug. if that works replace the switch

Hi Cookiebun

Raven1210 is right.

I had the same problem some years ago, on mine the plunger only had one wire and earthed through the one screw holding it on.

One tip though, if you remove it, be very careful that you do not loose the end of the cable inside the well. As I remember it was a small hole.

Good Luck

Most likely not the switch but alignment of the door now. Cut a piece of duct tape and put it on the door where the switch plunger would hit it. You may need more than one piece to build up that spot so that the switch will go on and off. If you have a switch that is broken you would know if you push in and out of the plunger with your hand and see if lights go on or not.
