Background: Bought it used with roughly 62k miles on it. And everytime im driving it would feel funny shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. Told by the dealer that its normal, but being me, im a bit skeptical
Nearly 99% of the time im up around 35 MPH and its still in 3rd gear, it will do a funny shift to 4th. Almost like a double shift, where it would try to shift the first time, not do it, and then 2nd time around actually shift (Very quick, like maybe 2 secs total). But, if im already going at a faster RPM, say 3K RPM, i dont feel it, but around 2K i do.
I dont want this to be a problem and have to pay out of pocket in the near future, after my warranty runs out. I'd like to get this fixed if it truly is a problem.
Because so far, ive had the following replaced under warranty:
Timing Belt, Crank Sensor, Crank Sensor Assembly, Alternator Belt, Brake Lines, Motor mounts, Wiper Pump, Drivers Console + Circuitry.
Get a trans flush if you haven't done so already as that will make the shifts a tad bit smoother. Your dealer is right about it being normal because my old 2002 would do the same exact thing.

You said you purchased the Optima used and it has 62k miles on it now if I read your post correctly. The 10 year/100k trannie warranty does not transfer to a second owner so you are not covered by the Kia original warranty at this point since the basic warranty ran out at 5 years or 60k miles. Are you saying you purchased a third party warranty when you bought your Optima used? If that is the case, the extended warranty should help. Otherwise you will be paying for any repairs on your Optima.

No, actually according to the Kia Dealer, they "messed up with the horsepower rating" on my car, and extended the warranty to 72k miles. I did not purchase any outside warranty or care plan with this car. And for the above post, i already had a transmission flush about a month ago...

Hi,
I am facing the same problem when the car shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear.
There is a violent jerk, when this shift occurs.
Can you tell me more about the reprogram?
I plan to take the car to the dealer this weekend.
