MAN, I can NOT believe how inexpensive HID upgrade kits have become since I bought mine last summer (2006). I've seen someone on eBay sell a kit for UNDER $80. Wierd.

Well it's been over a year since I installed HIDs and they're still going strong. I love how it lights up the dark roads, but I've noticed something last night. As my wife, a friend and I were driving home from the local comedy club, a mazda3 passed us (with what seems to be the OEM HIDs you can get as an upgrade) which seemed MUCH more brighter than mine was. Curious, could that mean that mine COULD be going out? Diming perhaps? Any ideas? Let me know, I'd like to hear your thoughts!

Lights do change intensity over their life. Typically they put out about 85-90% when new and "break in" to full brightness around 15-20% of their life span. They then slowly degrade and may go as low as 60-70% output before they die.

Sounds like you have lumen envy!

LOL Lumen Envy

Good way of putting it! I guess there's really nothing to worry about since the price of HID has gone down over the years. But thanks for the info.

Just look up "H7" on eBay and if you want "Blue" then you're prolly wanting 8,000K,.. but I would strongly recommend getting either 4,300K (OEM HID) or 6,000K (which I have installed in mine)

Yes any kit will do. Just make sure you get the right bulb type (H7) for your car. I recommend the 4300K bulb temp.

You can get them off of any site on the net and don't need to use eBay. Just do a google search on "HID". You'll get tons of hits.

Try this place, my friend got some for his Civic here:

HID XENON CONVERSION KIT 3000K 4300K 6000K 6500K 8000K
