wow very nice!!! but I couldn't have that, I would get way to distracted and would neglect to look at the road! I'll try to install mine behind like that, hopefully it will fit like yours did.

About this wiring diagram - its great and all, but does anyone have a pin-out diagram for the stock amplifier? I was thinking it might be best to wire in my mpw3 player straight through an existing input that i don't use - the tape deck. Or, seeing as to how my cd player has no changer...the cd input.

unless someone has a better idea?

i had planned on selling my stock stereo on ebay but since i work at swimming pool supplies store and its winter time and i have nothing to do i will take it to work and try to see if i can figure out how to wire into the cd changer input.

^^i've found some info on this-it seems that there are adpters available with rca jack on one side and the 9-pin connect for the cd changer on the other, But the only one i've found specifically for kia is on a website that is in korean(should've known) and is for the sorento. I don't know if my optima and the sorento have the same head unit. My optima has a stock H290 head unit.

These adapters are widely vailable for other makes of vehicles, volvos, toyotas, even buicks. I found them at several places. But the search for one that works with a Kia took a while.

Also, ithink they said something about possibly needing the cd-changer for it to work anyway. I'll hunt around for more info tomorrow. I have a final to study for.

Well after FINALLY getting right harness (since Best Buy sold me the WRONG one!)
The headunit was installed and the actual wire connection was pretty easy. Just match up the colors and prep, solder and add shrink tube to keep the connection clean and free from moisture! Simple!

Default DIY Aux input/jack?

All I'd like to do is add an Aux input to my stock 2001 stereo. Does anyone have any ideas? I want to hook up my mp3 player.

thanks!
