Default fluctuating dc voltage

hey what would make a 2001 Kia Rio dc voltage fluctuate?

on ideal it goes between 12.2 to 12.9 and it afects the the Kia running properly.

Would it be the battery, alternator, or something having to do with a sensor.

I will try to take the battery and take it to a local parts store to test it.

please help with your input.

thanks.

The voltage at the battery does fluctuate with different load but probably an idea to get the alternator tested to make sure voltage regulator is ok and is able to charge the battery as it should The readings you gave actually sound about normal. Sometimes idle on small engines will go rough with a lot of electrics [lights blowers, defoggers etc ] turned on together.
