Default Cannot get front driveaxles out

I have an 01' Kia with 141k on it. Runs very well. I am trying to change out the two front drive axles. I have changed out front driveaxles on two other cars, and they normally pop out with no problem. However, I cannot get these out for anything.
I have put my prybar inbetween the shaft and the tranny housing, put an extension on the bar, and gave it as much as I could, Still won't come out. Need some help!!

you have to use your long pry bar between the axle and the transmission case but dont pry, you have to use it as a wedge. once it is wedged between the 2, tap the end of the bar and it will be tight but it will pop out.

Tight is the word... There is a c-clip that holds the spline into the tranny, do as ESKORT27 says but you can pry on the bar, steady pressure worked best for me... Just be careful of the surrounding metal.

Don't forget to drain your transmission beforehand or you will have a mess.

Did either of you have to disconnect any of the rest of your strut, or A-arm to be able to get the drive shaft all the way out? I have the hub out of the car, but it seems that once I do get the shaft popped out from the tranny I still wont be able to get it all the way out without disassembling more stuff

disconnect the steering knuckle from the strut. i've never used a pry bar. i give it a good couple pulls and it pops out of the tranny fairly easy. when it comes to pulling axles out of the tranny...you can't be too gentle with it or it'll never come out.

Thanks Kia Racer, I did those things and got it out. Finally. Anyway, where are you supposed to fill up the transaxle oil on a manual tranny? I don't see anywhere at all under the hood or on the outside of the tranny case to add the fluid back.

you have to remove the speedo gear at the back of the tranny. It has one plug and a 10mm bolt holding it down. Use a long funnel and i believe it take something like 2.2l or 2.3l of 75w90 synthetic.

Not synthetic in the Rio trans.. I use semi-syn in mine but would never use a full synthetic.

ok, i'll bite, why don't you use full syntec in your tranny? I've been using it for a few years now with no probs...
