Default Need tech help - rpms drop while driving

This started out of no where one day and now happens more often. Over a month's time. There is a check engine light on and I'm buying a obd2 scanner, but I would rather someone just know whats wrong.

Problem- while driving the car feels like its hesitating. The rpms will go no higher than 2700, so it starts to slow down. It sounds like its still trying to go sometimes and other times it just wants to stutter and will stall.

Let me know if I need a better description but PLEASE HELP....

Welcome to forum.

It sure would be advisable to present as much info as you can, like model, miliage, miliage since last service, and the error code would be most useful.
When last was the fuel filter, plugs and timing belt etc. changed?

I doubt anyone here is going "just know what's wrong", but there sure is a few astute folks here that can help.

It is a 2002 kia rio cinco. Has 24k miles on it that I want to question. It's my girlfriends car.
She just purchased the car not too long ago and theres no record of any services. Is there a way to get a code to blink from the engine light without having a scanner.
I have the tools needed to do a lot of things because of the sr20 in the garage I've been working on for a while. Let me know what to check for and I will be at it...

I'd also suspect that mileage and it should have been questioned at the time of purchase, but you could still pursue this with the seller.

Seeing that you don't know the service history, I do a full service - timing belt kit, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, plugs, an oil.

I'm not sure if there's a method to count the pulses of the flashing CEL, but take a look at this site on how it's done.

I got engine code P0132 which is 02 sensor. But can that sensor really give me the problems I have. OBD-II Trouble Code: P0132 Oxygen Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank1, Sensor1)
The reason I ask is I replaced the battery yesterday and the engine light is off now. So I don't know if I'm actually picking up the new code. The 02 might have been bad for a while. I'm gonna go drive around and see if I can get the check engine light to come back on...

A bad O2 sensor will make the car sluggish.

All the codes would be reset if the battery was disconnected for a few minutes, so best to drive it around for a while and see if it triggers a code.

while reading this i was thinking 02 sensor but one thing that alot of people dont know and something that alot of people dont believe is that it is recommended that your 02 sensors be changed the same as spark plugs. When you change your plugs at the recommended interval, its recommended that you change your 02 sensors also.
