Default Engine Swap

Hi everybody, I'm a new user of this forum.

Is there some one here that have swap engine in their 01 or 02 Rio? I'm looking to change it because my odometer is around 168000 miles so...

Anybody know if a 1.8L of a 05 spectra will fit? And will it have more performance than a stock 1.5L?

Thanks a lot guys

i wouldnt recommend it. I am a kia mechanic and i wouldnt do it, the computers are different and all the wiring would be different too. I wouldnt recommend it. What i would do is change your timing belt, do spark plugs and wires, fuel filter, air filter, just a basic tune up and drive it. But thats just my opinion, good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I doubt a spectra engine would fit properly in the engine bay of a Rio.

I agree with eskort, just do a basic tune up, replace what needs to be replaced and just go with it.

My friend owns a Rio and he likes it because it gets really gas mileage. I recommend that you just keep the Rio if you're looking to save gas, otherwise if you're looking for speed, you're better off with something else.

Good luck with whatever you do to your Rio!

Only the 2003 to 2005 1.6L engines well be a direct bolt into a 2001 to 2002 rio. Any other engines you well have to do alot of work to.

The 05 Spectra uses the 2.0L Beta.. Not the 1.8 T8D. Either way for the amount of work needed not worth the 20hp gain.. I would just add a turbo if that was the case. Might be cheaper in the long run.
