Thumbs down 1.5L Rio, Ticking Valves & No Compression

After recent valve job on my Kia #3 cylinder has no compression and the valves have ticking sounds, some more noticable than others. After a new valve job is it common for valves to be ticking until they propper seat or do I need to do more work on the head?

Also the #2 & #3 cylinder both had no compression at first, but #2 came back on it's own. With a little time and oil in the cylder would #3 come back?

Recently my brother threw the timing belt in My 2001 Kia Rio. I took the engine apart to find bent valves in the #1 cylinder. I took the cylinder head completely apart keeping every valve and hardware as each it's own unit (bagged). I put all remaining cylinder valves on a lathe and checked for any warping (found none). I lapped all valve cups and valves to ensure propper seating. Replaced all seals (Head gasket, valve seats, thermostat, exhaust manifold, intake manifold, etc....) torqued every bolt to manufactory specs and factory recommended sequence. Assemblied all parts with engine assembly lube. Had valve cups soaking in oil for the entire build except for installing into motor (sat in engine for about 3 hours before running). After doing all the work to the cylinder head I replaced the timing belt, tesioner bearing, idler bearing, and water pump(using new seals). Before starting the engine I cranked the motor by hand for 4 complete revolutions to ensure proper clearence of valves and pistons....no problems. I also cranked over the motor for several revolutions with the starter to ensure proper clearence....no problems. After all this work I started the car to find two cylinders with no compression and ticking valves. After several revolutions by hand the #2 cylinder has compression, but #3 still doesn't have any...

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

how was the piston heads when you pulled it? 99% of the time the vavles hit the pistons.

All the valves were ok except for the number 1 cylinder. Lapped all valves in the head Assembly and replaced the #1 exhaust and intake valves. Replaced the timing belt, idler bearing, Tensioner, water pump assembly, and thermostat. She runs like a top now and it took about 400 dollars and about 40 hours, mainly by myself ( first time I ever took on a task like this....tearing apart the whole top end and rebuilding again.)
