I stopped the engine and restarted it with the sensor plugged in and the fan is running now. Do you think it might have been a bad connection? Also the fan blade disintegrated where the teeth grab the motor shaft. I can't see anyway to fix that. Ihave to go out also but will check back tonight. Thank you very much for your help!
It sounds like it was a bad connection.

If you jumper pins 1 and 4 on the OBDII dianostic plug it will make the fan run.
See below schematics.

Note that a problem, like a bad connection, with the Main Relay will also cause a problem with the fan relay.

The temp sensor is located about an inch to the right of the thermostat housing.

Well I let the engine cool for several hours and started it and the fan comes on instantly and stays on. Will this be a problem?

The only problem with the fan staying on all the time would be the unnecessary wear on the fan and an increase in fuel consumption.

A bad connection on the temp sensor would be seen as a high temperature by the ECU and this will keep the fan on - best re-check the connector.

Thanks Ron1004 and jcwit. You have been a great help. I have ordered a new fan blade and hope to get it back together either Wednesday or Friday. I will update then. Thanks again!

I put the new fan blade on and put everything back together and now it works. I am still suspicious of the fan motor and will keep a close eye on it. Thanks again for your your help.
