Default VSS headaches

Hello all

i have a 2001 reo and it keeps kicking the code for the VSS sensor (code501) so 1st we checked the connector and it was not looking good so we cleaned it and cleared code....still kicked the code...then we changed the sensor and cleaned connector agen.....still kicked the code.... so the last thing i have tryed is it solder the wires to the sensor that did not work eather

so 1st is there 2 VSS sensors(some one told me there maybe) and if so where is 2ed one ....the one i see is on the top of the crankshaft

2ed if there is only one what can i do

this car has bin down since feb not that it will not drive ... it drives fine... it's out of inspection and i dont want another $130 in fines

oh i forgot to say

yes the speedometer is working fine ....also it's a stander 5speed trans.

Where is the sensor that you have replaced. As there are two speed related sensor. The Vehicle Speed Sensor and a Wheel Speed Sensor.

it's the one on the on the top back of the motor.
