Default IAT Sensor

Can someone tell me where to find this on a Kia Rio 2002.

I have the air cleaner box off the engine where I thought most people said it was.

But I cannot seem to find it..

Thanks

I think I found it...

Seems the nice people at the Kia Dealer sold me the wrong IAT sensor..

The sensor they sold me has two clips for the plug in. The one that on my KIA has 3.

Have to give them a call..

Thanks

it´s below the throttle body....it is mounted over the intake manifold...it is the same place where they put the T-MAP sensor but in USA version model they put the IAT

it is straight line right under the TPS

want a picture?

That would be great...

I am almost 100% sure I have found it...

It was right under the air intake box which I removed (That was fun)

Than it looks like it is on the left side of the intake maifold (I hope I am saying the right thing)

My problem is the IAT circuit that the Kia dealer sold me has two connectors where the plug connects to..

When disconnected the cable on my KIA Rio 2002 it has 3 connectors...

I called two KIA dealers to verify I got the right part and it seems I do...

So I am at a loss.. And I don't want to have to pay someone to install this.

Thanks again...

That's kewl...

I would really appreciate it if you could count the number of metal pins on the Circuit...

The one on my KIA is 3 and the one I was sold has 2...

Thanks again

this is funny I donīt want to pay someone to fix my car because I highly doubt of their expertise and knowledge about how to properly fix and diagnose the problems it has and on the other hand I donīt have enough expertise to properly diagnose or repair it as fast as Iīd like not to mention I donīt have time to do it but I think I can get all the information I need for repair it...it is just a matter of time

The fact that he made removing the air filter box sound like a daunting ordeal does not instill me with confidence as to his mechanical abilities.

Philips screw (clamp) holding air damn to filter box, remove two 12mm nuts from the front of the air filter box, remove two additional 12mm bolts located on the back, remove the upper clamp on the Throttle Body to MAF, remove MAF connector plug, even if you remove the remaining intake components this requires removing one 10mm bolt (on the core support) and one 10mm nut on a bracket near the battery, seriously this should be 10-15 minutes max.

Have you scanned the computer for codes, (your Kia dealer will not take back opened / installed electrical items)? Did you use something other than a basic OBD scanner to check the operation of the IAT sensor. Anyhow the IAT has 2 connectors you are looking at the TPS (throttle position sensor, mounted on the side of the throttle body, opposite the throttle cable) The IAT is mounted at the center of intake manifold runner for cylinders 3 &4, it is secured by two 10mm bolts, to remove the plug press the metal retaining clip and gently remove the plug, now remove the two 10mm bolts and the IAT will pull straight up and out.

Personally I'd just throw the car on the lift and change it out from the bottom.

also check for corrosion in the connector terminal and the sensor terminals

maybe yours is not damaged but maybe it has corrosion on it.

You may want to use electrical grease connection lubricant for preventing the corrosion again
