Default Rad fan or Rad fan motor.

Anyone have or know where to get a rad fan motor or rad fan assembly. I have found one made by Auto cool. Everyone is back ordered for 6 months. I have check all scrap yards and they have nothing. Kia wants $279.00 for just the motor

We got the whole fan assemble from Rock Auto for $90 less than a year ago. I just checked and they are now listed at $68 plus change. Only number listed is for cars with auto trans, but if i remember correctly I verified on the KIA USA site that the part #s were the same. That is what I installed in my wife's 02 Rio with a 5 speed and have had no issues seven months later.

Did the white plastic fan wobble itself off?

If it is just the blade, you can replace the blade itself. Is your fan motor bad as well?

As a strange aside, I have encountered two different rio fan assemblies with the defective blades (non UV stabilized) One has a smaller diameter motor and is used on MT cars only, No worries here as I can use a drop in replacement blade. The second variation is used on the AT cars (as well as some of the MT cars) and the motor diameter is larger, necessating the use of a blade with a larger hub. This blade generally must be modified from another application, but in a pinch can be done with a dremel and some time.

I got it from the scrap yard. It was the motor that was clicking and making the grinding noise. I payed $50.00. It came off a car that had 40,000kms on it. I did run into a problem where the motor came off a automatic and mine is standard, the plug on the end of the wire for the motor was different so I just cut them and used butt connectors. Everything is working really good now

In the MT cars the fan motor from a 92-98 civic will work, bolts right up to the shroud, you must re use your old plug, the MT uses a fan blade hub of just under 4 inches. Only difference is the nut to remove the fan blade is 10mm on the kia and 8mm on the honda the I.D. of the nut is the same, and the armature is threaded the same for either application, the four blade fan (honda) swaps for the five blade (kia) disengrate-o-matic fan blade. Can't find a Honda, a toyota 90-95 tercel will work for blade and motor, love the Japanese efficency in cross utilization. And the Nippon Denso (ND) fan is better made than the aftermarket TYC or oe Kia fan. Other parts from the Tercel can prove useful like the powersteering fluid resovoir, angle of he return is sharper, but inlet and outlet are the same, just no 10mm nut is needed to secure it, but it slides and fits snugly in the facory kia bracket, plastic is less brittle, and has a larger opening as well!
