Default engine stall

My Kia Rio has a history of engine stalls. Two or three times a year. I've changed the feul filter (and so has the dealership) for the problem. Seems to fix it but because the problem only occurs occasionally, its hard to tell if the fuel filter is fixing anything. After stalling, it won't immediately start up but starts after a 10 minute wait. Is there a known problem with the Kia Rio with fuel filters or vapor lock?

I had a similar problem were it would sort of cut in and out when driving, then got to stalling. It finally thew a engine code for the crank position sensor. Has you check engine light come on, if so buy your self an obd2 scanner for $50 and find out what it is saying the problem is, they are easy to use and pay for them selves the first time you use them.

I have the same problem on my 2002 Kia Rio (Cinco, 1300cc).

I noticed that it happened when the weather is hot and I have drive for more than 2 hours (when I mean hot ~30C outside).

This month it happend three times; after 2 hours of driving each and one time when I had drove for more than 5 hours (but it was winter).

I have checked with obdii, nothing.

Any ideas?

PS I have checked the gas-pump, but it seems that is working fine...

Kyle77, did the crank pos sensor work? My 02 is doing exactly what you were describing. Fuel pressure is fine, and I changed fuel filter. There are no error codes either. I don't want to change all kinds of sensors and parts, so I am researching here first.

vegos, a couple things you might try that I saw in a diff thread- replace idle sensor, remove and clean TPS/IAC.

I'm going to take the car back in and tell them to only check/change a couple of things. i figure i'll save some $ telling them exactly what I want instead of them trying to "locate" a particular problem.

I clean the TPS, check it and it seems it's fine.

I also check O2 sensors. They have the Ω (Ohm) resistance they should.

I'll try to locate and check the idle sensor. BUT i have no problems with idle speed. My problem starts when I have already drive for 1-2 hours (and usually with 120-140km/h), warm weather. Then, it start to decelerate when I push the throttle over 3-4,000 rpm, and the machine goes to turn off. It finally stalls, in start at 4k rpm, then 3k, 2k, 1k, and then, I can't drive.

(Sorry, not so good in english)
