Default 2002 Kia Rio Cinco

I love my little Easter Egg, but I am having several issues with it right now.
I found the answer to one and THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the timing belt instructions.
My second problem is with O rings in the fuel rail. A few months after I got the car (July 02, it's the first brand new car I ever bought!) I received a factory recall on the O rings. I took it to a local Kia dealership and had them replaced. Since then, my husband has had to replace them every five to six months. I can always tell when it's due because the raw fuel smell will actually get into the heating and air system. Is this something that is pretty normal with these cars or is mine just a bit wiggy?
My third problem is that in December I was rearended at a stop sign. The other driver's insurance company wants to total the car out because they say it is worth less than the repair costs. They offered me $4700 for the car. The repair shop quoted a price of $3000 for the rear lift gate assembly, the rear bumper, the rear quarter and tail light assembly, paint (The whole car, because they said the Atlantic Blue was a very hard match) and labor.
We can cut out all of the labor and most of the parts from the $3000 if my husband does the work himself, but we are having a difficult time finding replacement parts. Kia wants $508 for JUST the lift gate, and none of the rear wiper, center brake light, lock & handle, or the rear glass with the embeded defrost.
Is it possible to find the whole life gate assembly without spending a fortune?

don't know about the rest of the parts but I had a blown o-ring in one of my injectors. Had fuel spraying over the intake and the stink in the car was overwhelming. never knew about the recall, i should check into that. I've replaced that one o-ring twice now and I think the leak is finally gone.

It may pay to get Kia to install a new set of o-rings and then let them replace them every 5 months, or until they find a proper solution.

Some places sell pirate body parts that aren't always that good, but certainly better than nothing, or a wreckers yard.

I think legally you can force the insurance to cough up the $3000 for the repair considering its less than what they are offering.
You could also talk to them about buying it back from them if they give you the payout.
